OMG…Archie Proposes To Veronica!!!

The world’s oldest teenager, Archie Andrews, has finally decided to settle down as the news spread that  he proposed to rich girlfriend, Veronica Lodge. [To tell you quite frankly, I was rooting for Betty Cooper the whole time!!! ] Archie Comic Publications posted the news on their blog Thursday, a teaser for the 600th edition of the popular comic strip.The edition will show the Riverdale High School student and his friends graduate almost 65 years after the character came into existence.

X-Men: First Class is Coming.

It was announced earlier this week that Josh Schwartz, the creator of the TV teen dramas “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl,” will be writing “X-Men: First Class,” another installment of the superhero franchise. Variety reports that the new film will focus on the young students of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, rather than the adults like Wolverine and Storm.

On paper the deal seems to make sense: Schwartz is a writer with a proven track record for soapy high school angst; the comic book was originally envisioned by Stan Lee to be focused on mutant teenagers and their issues; and assembling the actors from the first three films has likely become too complicated and expensive to do again. But will the younger-skewing take alienate the true fans?

Debuting in 2006, Marvel’s “X-Men: First Class”  began as an all-ages series that focused on the first years of the original X-Men members: Cyclops, Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), Iceman, Beast and Angel. The series was an unexpected success and has since spawned several volumes.

Whether the studio’s plans for an “X-Men: First Class” film involve some of the younger mutants already introduced in previous films or a look at younger versions of the existing team leaders in the film has yet to be announced, but that’s likely to be the topic of much debate between now and when the final  decision goes public.

People names Jackman ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2008.

Australian actor Hugh Jackman has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2008.

 

The 40-year-old film star has played superhero Wolverine in the “X-Men” trilogy and won a Tony Award for his work in the stage musical “The Boy From Oz.” He will next be seen opposite Nicole Kidman in the big-screen epic “Australia.”

Kidman said she thinks Jackman, a married father of two, is a good choice for People’s highest honor.

“Women’s jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room,” she told the magazine. “Hugh is tough and romantic at the same time. Australian men are a different breed. They’re rugged and they sweat.”

Deborra lee Furness, Jackman’s wife of 12 years, said the actor may have a “body of doom,” but insists she likes “what’s inside.”

Asked what his wife’s reaction was when she heard he had been declared People’s 2008 Sexiest Man Alive, Jackman recalled: “God bless her, she said, ‘I could’ve told them that years ago!’ And then she said, ‘Obviously, Brad wasn’t available this year.’ And I said, ‘That was a joke, right?'”

Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Matt Damon are some of People’s previous Sexiest Man Alive title-holders.

The magazine’s 2008 list of sexy men also includes Daniel Craig, Jon Hamm, Zac Efron, Robert Buckley, Blair Underwood, Ed Westwick, Michael Phelps, Javier Bardem, Blake Shelton, Lang Lang, Robert Pattinson, Joshua Jackson and Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

Izabel Goulart walks the VSFS 2008 Runway.

One of my favorite supermodels, Izabel Goulart, also walked the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2008 last Saturday in Miami. (She only wore 2 different outfits, compared to the usual 3 or 4 outfits she used to wear for the show in her previous years with VSFS.) Rumors have been rampant that she asked to be let go of her VS Angels exclusive contract. It’s been quite obvious that VS has not been utilizing her talent lately, instead has been focusing on newer VS Angels Miranda Kerr, Doutsen Kroes, and Emanuela De Paula. She first appeared on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2005 and made her debut as an ANGEL in the 2006 show.   It has also been reported that Goulart has opted to sign a contract with A/X (Armani Exchange) instead.  She has been doing a lot of ads for A/X since she replaced Alessandra Ambrosio earlier this year, advertising the clothing company’s Lifestyle Spring campaign 2008.  Although she is not an Angel any longer, she remains working for the VS company, although not exclusively.
