In Remembrance…

Eight years have past since, yet for most people the wounds are still fresh.  September 11, 2001…another date for the history books that will live forever in infamy.   A day of which the places of New York City, NY., Arlington County, VA.,  and Shanksville, PA., were left with overwhelming amount of casualties.  Over 3,000 people dead, 6,000 people injured including nationals of over 90 countries. But I don’t need to remind you of that…you probably turned on your televisions today and saw all the footages on repeat over and over and over. Now, I know that the purpose of that is so we won’t forget…but can we ever really forget what happened that day? I don’t believe so. We all lost something that fateful day.  Some people lost a loved one,  a friend,  a relative.  Some people lost their innocence, their eyes opened  to the kind of atrocities people are capable of. But all of us lost our sense of safety and security, and the freedom we enjoyed so much. We started living  in fear, a lot of us still do.

Eight years later,  people still struggling to heal the wounds.  But as the wounds heal, the scars remain.  Forever there so that we’d remember. Remember the lives lost,  and the brave heroes who rose to the occasion. Remember to be thankful for all that you have in your lives.  Remember to never take anything for granted.  But most of all, remember to hope, hope for a better tomorrow. Remember to believe that there is still goodness left  in this world.

To the families of those innocent people who lost their lives and of the heroes who died so that others may live,  know that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
